Institutions and schools should teach about Corona virus disease for 15 minutes per week.
The arrival of the coronavirus pandemic in Kenyan in March
last year altered how people move around the country and associate with
each other.Schools, colleges,Universities and work places were
closed.People were told to stay at home while others worked from
home.Only essential services were being provided. The COVID-19 pandemic
has affected the entire globe and continues to alter life as we know
it.Over 18.3 million cases and 694,000 deaths from COVID-19 have been
recorded worldwide. The government announced measures aimed at keeping
the pandemic away. These measures included wearing masks, washing of hand
and sanitizing, keeping 1 meter distance away.no crowding and temperature
of students taken before they start classes.Students would be
sensitized against sharing of personal items and maintaining hygiene
always. Therefore it is prudent for schools, colleges and institutions to
spare 10- 15 minutes of talks to students about the Corona virus and
students also share their experience before others so as to sensitize
the community. This virus keep changing it's mode and it is good for
students to learn the vocabulary used.Words like stay at
home,quarantine,temperature,1 meter distance etc should be taught for
students to understand.Physical distancing control measures seek to
reduce the number of contacts between people where transmission could
occur. Students can take the message to their parents at home and to
neighbours. Also with education, the mode of greeting also changed. No
embracing or offering hands, but a clenched fingers. That the virus can
remain in the atmosphere for 8 hours. Also during the HIV and Aids
pandemic pamphlets were printed which gave more information about HIV
and AIDS.Therefore the ministry of education and other stake holders
should print posters and pamphlets to explain more about the Corona
virus and pictures which can illustrate about the pandemic better.
