Stop the 70 million Kakamega Governor's residence
Stop the 70 million Kakamega Governor's residence
There was an impasse over revenue sharing between the two
levels of government which has seen the enactment of the 2019
Approbations Act,even though the Senate and the National Assembly were
unable to agree on the Division of revenue Bill, which the later then
enacted unilaterally. Many Governors have not accounted for funds
allocated to their control and it beats logic for them to go
demonstrating on the road that they need more funds while they are on
the wanted list by DPP Noordin Hajj, look at kiambu. One of the
Governors' favourite is the building of mansions especially Governors in
the rural areas.Governors will hold a meeting in Nakuru titled "The
future of Devolution" and it is a second in two weeks. This is a wastage
of funds and time for development matters in their Counties. l propose
that Governors discuss more on how to be released on bail and how to
employ people who will utilize and account for the funds under their
watch because there is a lot of misapropriation.President Uhuru Kenyatta
has urged Governors to work with funds allocated to them.A report that
Kakamega County will spend sh 10 million on the final phase of
construction of the Governor's residence in Lukuyani Sub-County and
there is no mortuary facilities in that area betrays their priorities
and budgeting. The amount was budgeted for in 2019/2020 financial
year. The residence had a budget of 70 million and has been running since
2013/2014 financial year. The money added will furnish the residence do
landscaping and put in place final touches on the project. The Governors
is the chairman of all Governors. He should have used the 70 million to
start businesses for the people of Kakamega like promoting farming eg
buying manure, seeds, paying fee for University students, promoting small
scale traders etc If he is not eligible for the next term why spend 70
million on a residence.Let this project be stopped, because it is out to
benefit an individual not the community. Alternately 70 million can
create contract jobs for the residence for 4 years.Where do Governors
copy these projects from? This is pure waste.By
