The new currency have also an effect on Education
Central bank Governor Patrick Njoroge recently launched the new notes on 1st June during Madaraka day. This was a historic occasion because since Independence there has been no bigger change of currencies all at the same time. The new currencies have taken Kenya by storm as the effects are being felt in the Countries neighbouring Kenya. These Countries have all stopped receiving the old Kenyan's currencies notes. The demonetized of old bank notes have very few months to be phased out. These demonetized old notes were a topic in Mathematics and taught in schools from grade 2 to the upper classes.l was shocked that my grandson in grade 1 asking me about the new bank notes. Therefore,Central Bank of Kenya and the ministry of education should come together and make charts bearing the new bank notes so that proper education is enhanced. The student need to touch, feel and see the watermark and important features on the notes, so that they can differentiate real money and fake currencies.Alternatively children cannot be tested on notes which they have not seen or been taught .Therefore the topic money needs upgrading in Kenya's mathematics books and also social studies.
