Let the judiciary shelve installing 40 million WIFI project

When you are criticized you grow. The Judiciary will spend Sh40 million on Wi-Fi services to boost efficiency of operations. The digitisation project, to be completed by March is claimed that it  will increase the number of stations already connected with Wi-Fi from 34 to 158. In its 2012/13 report, the Judiciary indicated it had already spent Sh 941 million on Information and Communications Technology within 21 stations. Some of the devices installed include  phones and cameras. Audiovisual recording and transcription systems were also installed in 35 courtrooms to reduce human error in recording proceeding. Today, the judiciary hires video conferencing services on need basis. My pertinent question is why use 40 million for WIFI while each judge and magistrate was given an IPad and a smartphone? why now the WIFI ? My take is, let them hire more judges and magistrate using that fund because it is immaterial for someone who has a case in February 2017 to be given a date in October, how sure are you that you will be alive then? Let them also reduce their vacation as it leads to clogging of cases. Let any fund available be made to  reduce cases in court because Kenyans envision as if they are not getting value for their money in kenyan court. Recently a man in crutches in court protested when he was given such a date and he complained that he was sick and may not be alive then. WIFI is not an option. ln case of a need, let them hire. Justice delayed is justice denied. Let us go back to the core duty why we have the judiciary.
