LET MOMBASA STADIUM BE IN A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT

Mombasa county is the second town after Nairobi county and it receives very many visitors both for sports and culture. A cursory visit around an important area used for cultural activities,which is the stadium reveals that the place is under construction now over 4 years. Mombasa residents who were around since the 1990's have very good memories  of the stadium and  remember with nostalgia what went on in the stadium. Mombasa county stadium has nurtured careers and played a big role of hosting both local and international events. It has also been a pivot point in primary and secondary games and hosting of national events,where locals have been attending. Those participating started their assemble outside the stadium. Most political meetings have been done in the  municipal stadium. Some athletes started their big journey from the stadium. All football matches both local and international have graced the county stadium. It was with astonishment when l passed the county stadium and l was greeted with silence and construction stopped. Mombasa county sometimes receives visitors who only come for events in the stadium. Which picture are we portraying by stopping the construction of the stadium? Children come for sports and cultural activities, what message do they go back with? Let the county government hurry up with the construction of the stadium,so that the stadium remains in a clean and favourable environment fit for sports and cultural activities and Mombasa people will walk and chew gum at the same time.
