LET CHILDREN COURT DEAL WITH RUNAWAY MEN ALSO

A woman in Kakamega who abandoned her 17- year old marriage with five children was found guilty and fined ksh 5000 to be paid  every month after her husband, a teacher moved to Butere  children's magistrate's court seeking orders to compel her to contribute to their upkeep. The husband argued that they shared the responsibility of raising their children with his wife when they were married. If a woman is jailed or found to have neglected her children in Kenya, we truly say that is a surprise because majority of those who abandon their children are men. Let courts rescue children who want to go to school and be taken care of by their parents especially the men are nowhere to be seen or found. But to rule that a jobless woman pay a man Ksh 5000 and further more the man is a teacher who is salaried is not prudent as he can take care of the children without the woman money. If the woman left some years ago, how has this man been surviving? If a woman leaves a man, it is an issue, but if the man leaves a woman in Kenya it is seen as if it is okay. lf she would have been salaried, it would have been better but being a tailor don't think the woman will be able to afford that money. l pray that the magistrate would have left it open for the woman to contribute whatever she would have afforded, but not a fixed amount. Majority of those who neglect their children are men. This is a second case coming from Kakamega. Let the children courts move with speed and fine all men who are found guilty of neglecting their children in Kenya also.
