Mombasa county roads are in horrible state
Roads in Mombasa are in a horrible state. They have potholes and some have gullies. These pen gaps in the road where asphalt used to be can damage tires, make cars swerve and cause collisions. When you look inside the pothole you see a very thin layer of tarmac and stones. These are roads you can only see in Kenya but not in Tanzania,Uganda or Ethiopia. In Tanzania and Saudi Arabia in order to be given a road tender, you must satisfy the authorities that you can make good roads which are long lasting. To prove that you will make good roads, the authorities observe your road for at least 1 year and if it fail the durability test you have to redo the road. If the authorities give you a tender and the road last only one year, you will redo the road and on top of it you are blacklisted. Around the CBD there is no inch of the road stretching 100 meters which does not have potholes or deep gullies. A vehicle must go slow in order to manoeuvre the potholes or cause an accident. Here in Kenya those who are given the tenders, to make and repair roads, are not answerable to anyone, maybe because of the struggle they go through to get these tenders. Those who give the tenders cannot dare recall those who did the roads previously to redo the roads. I don't know why. This must stop as this contributes to road tenders being given to Chinese, thereby making the students who are road engineers lack jobs, skills and experience. The Chinese do not take Kenyan students as interns making them lack crucial skills and the ropes. Bad roads in Kenya have contributed to leaders to buy choppers, making them not feel what Kenyans are going through. Potholes in Kenya are causing deaths and destruction of important components in vehicles. Let the national government and county government take seriously the problems of bad roads in Kenya as healthy Kenyans are dying daily or getting injured because of bad roads. This affects the economy.
