 Let Presidential candidates have more time with their deputies

We now have over 50​ Presidential candidates for the August 2022 general elections.The Presidential candidates with many supporters like Raila Odinga and William Ruto have up to Monday deadline to name their running mates.Many people have given them suggestion of names and in Azimio there was a panel formed to conduct suitability interviews, which invited potential running mates for interview.The bone of contention is the time the Presidential candidates have been given to name their preferred deputies.They had been given an earlier date but it was moved forward after they complained.A deputy President will work with the President for five years to govern the country,ensure policies are implemented,to advice the President and when the President is away, to work on his behalf and many other duties.So to give a Presidential candidates less than a month to chose a running mate is a very hasty decision.ln February the Registrar of political parties urged the aspiring contenders to prepare and meet raft of aspirants requirements set out in the electoral calendar and choose their preferred candidates early.This was not to be.This was not in the minds of Presidential candidates, but now they have been over advised and in additional with the social media.The Presidential candidates have been harassed left,right and center and given names of people they have never worked with in their lives or done any joint work.This hasty choosing​ of a deputy can cause a Presidential candidate to choose a deputy who in the long run may
declare publicly that he/she is one running the Country,discuss weakness of his boss in public,desert​ duty,take credit for all development and performances and distance himself from all failures.After being selected some​ deputies will realize they are more learned that their bosses while others make themselves unavailable during the call of duty.
Some have evils thoughts on the life of their bosses.Others will begin immediately to sabotage their bosses so that they are seen to be the ones working.Other when they see their bosses give out their jobs to other people to perform them,they start a war of words with those doing their jobs.Others forget to start campaigning for a win and expect the Presidential candidate to move around campaigning alone.These and many more undermine the chosen deputy Presidents.Therefore it is a high time a deputy is named immediately a Presidential candidate declare his candidature.
