 COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF NAKURU SHOULD INSTALL STREET LIGHTS


Nakuru County doubles as an agricultural town as well as a tourist town.Nakuru County straddles the highway to counties like Nairobi, Kiambu Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Nandi, Kericho and Kakamega, among others, signifying its strategic importance as a business hub and a transit point on the Northern Corridor and being the busiest and most important transport route in East and Central Africa.The major economic activities in Nakuru County include agriculture, financial services and tourism. Nakuru County covers 7498.8 Km2 and is home to Lake Elmenteita, Lake Naivasha, and Lake Nakuru, known for innumerable flamingoes​ that nest along its shoresIt is famous for the Nakuru National park,Geothermal factory,Hell's gate and other tourists spots.Nakuru County is a leading investment destination in the country.But the elephant in the room is lack of street lights on the road.At night when navigating in Nakuru County, it is pitch darkness that drivers of motor vehicles are forced to use their headlights to navigate around the town.This is very dangerous and risky.Let the County install the street lights on the road so that those who want to beat the curfew can do so safely.​ The County can install solar lights which are cheaper and which use the sun rays to acquire light and some automatically light themselves in the evening.Many street light systems are being connected underground instead of wiring from one utility post to another. Street lights are an important source of public​ security lighting​ system,intended to reduce crime I​ towns.Nakuru County leadership should take up the challenge and give its best in realising set social-economic goals fully.Also the County should make the business environment attractive to investors by installing the street lights.
