Let the government speed up the setting up of central patient data
The government should help speed up the programme that could see all Level four hospitals interlinked with ICT systems two years after a company was awarded the Sh 4.7 billion tender for the project Let the government advertise for the tender afresh The reason is that the Country is lacking the integration of the system such as linking to Kemsa ( Kenya medical supplies authority) NHIF ( National Hospital Insurance Fund) and other systems that are critical to health and necessary towards the realisation of the Universal Health care goals and realization of one of the four Agenda of President Uhuru. The HCIT project was supply to enable real-time exchange of data between all the 98 hospitals under the government's flagship of medical equipment services (MES) scheme. The medical history of patients is vital to diagnosis and treatment which would have been obtained from the central data center at KNH.This is a global practice, meaning Kenya has been left out of data mining crucial to researchers and doctors.KNH MRI machine has not functioned for six years forcing patients to go to private laboratories.Let the government see the need of speeding up this programme
