IEBC needs qualified personnel

IEBC needs qualified personnel

Before the October 26th elections there was a hue and cry from Kenyans who were urging IEBC to postpone the elections to a later date, but all this fell to deaf ears. My take is IEBC needs at least three lawyers on board. Some of the decisions made by  IEBC are wanting. This was necessitated when Mr Chebukati the chairman went to the supreme court to seek interpretation of the law.IEBC was given the  mandate of conducting free, fair, transparent and credible elections. The playing field has not been levelled. With these elections which have just been concluded, can the elections unify Kenya? If IEBC goes on to tell Kenyans to choose either to participate in voting during the elections. How can Kenyans be led by people they did not elect? In some parts of Kenya voting did not take place while others there was a boycott. In some polling stations, the highest votes were 100 per candidate or below. Are these credible elections? Votes should not be manipulated, let the truth be said. The late Kivuitu bungled elections, this costed Kenya, lives of people and the economy. The resignation of Dr Akombe was an eye opener, her workmates did not read signs on the wall as she confirmed that all was not well with the elections management. The Chairman Mr Chebukati has said that 27 constituencies did not take part in these repeat elections. This is historic, it has never happened in Kenya. Imagine voting being scheduled to be done on Saturday and the protest that follow ! Is it an oversight on the part of the chairman? It is not prudent for the chairman to instruct the inspector general to ensure voting goes on in the remaining 27 counties. Kenyans cannot be forced to vote against their wishes. Are rights of the Kenyans being violated? The news that 70 people have lost life during this electioneering period is a sad reality. What were the job description of  members of parliament in the tallying centres? We saw an M P struggling with a Returning officer in order for him to change results. This is an election offence and the law must be followed to the later. Why did the chairman not announce such an incident, which was recorded? Mandera west constituency has 28,816 registered voters but the highest contestant got 109,938.Mr Chebukati is this legal? If voting means Kenyans become divided, fight, lives are lost, let these elections stay. The person at fault is not Uhuru or Raila it is Mr Chebukati, chairman of IEBC.
