Accountability for Governors starts from inauguration day
25 governors were not re-elected during the just ended general elections and many reasons were advanced. The reasons include, unavailability in their offices, lack of fairness, nepotism, embezzlement, noncooperation, abusive language etc Now that 25 new governors plus other previous 22 Governors have been sworn in, let them lay open their inauguration budget ranging from 4 million to 30 million for accountability and if some money was not used let it be refunded back to the county. The amount budgeted by counties for inauguration is shocking to say the least. Were they buying plots, houses or planes? Considering that most of the equipment for the inauguration were sourced free from counties, why was the budget in millions, and also many Kenyans are sleeping hungry? Most of the workers during the inauguration were county employees who were doing the jobs they are paid to do,were they paid over time on the spot? Let us not pretend to usher in Apiyo while he/she will behave like Opiyo (Twins).Meaning, many counties will have voted out the incumbent while the incoming may behave like the former governors. The buck stops at their door steps. The threats some governors are giving that they will fire some county employees eg who campaign against them or crack down on corrupt county officials so that they employ their workers is null and void, which may end up in court and counties can be fined colossal amount of money. Let them accept and move on like the way they have told their opponents. Let them be inducted the soonest as some may lack managerial skills and forget that campaign is over. Kenyans are watching keenly.
