Political parties should explain the criteria used in nominations
The list of those nominated by parties as
M P's,Senators, youth,MCA's etc is out and it is not a story to go home with. The people nominated are friends and relatives of party leaders and elected official of the parties. I have scrutinized the names and l see no professor, architect, engineer, scientists, musician or footballers who have made Kenya proud. Neither have l seen artists, doctors, planners, members of the business community etc l also would have expected people like the makonde,a European or Asian community to be nominated as they also fought for our independence. What criteria was used in these nominations? How was the nomination process done? Those nominated, what do they have what Kenyans don't have? Was there an interview conducted ? These and many questions linger in the minds of Kenyans considering that some leaders nominated their children and brothers. lf 800 or more people applied, was it prudent to interview them or look at their C V's ? Parties kill the moral of members through such skewed nominations. lf they nominate professionals from various sectors,Kenya would not have problems like lack of maize and sugar. Professionals help elevate the economy and are market driven. Those tasked with the selection process would have put the interest of Kenyans at heart by also appointing renowned runners like Paul Tergat, footballers, opinion makers, people from the media and other stakeholders who have made Kenya proud,so that they boost their votes. But they have failed terribly. Those nominated in the county assembly by parties are 99% composed of members from those ethnic communities. How do other people who don't come from those communities represented in the counties? Parties forget that nowadays most counties are inhabited by people from other communities and are cosmopolitan. How does parties go hunting for votes forgetting to recognize people like wanyama who was honoured by a neighboring country and has made Kenya proud? ln Kenyan we do not appreciate talents. The names which were forwarded by parties for nominations do not reflect a Kenyans outlook or equality. Let them rethink of the whole process.
