Let TSC and Knut re-examine AON contract to save teachers lives

Chronic Diseases covered; including but not limited to -  Cancers, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, peptic ulcer diseases, arthritis, cardiac failure, epilepsy, chronic renal disease, schizophrenia, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, thyroid disease, Systemic lupus erythematosus and Hyperlipidemia. But all these maybe a P R show while teachers continue suffering under Aon medical scheme. The reason is the time a teacher takes as soon as he/she reaches the hospital and when treatment commences. At the hospital the patient who is sick is required to fill in admission forms, the hospital must call TSC to confirm if indeed he/she is a bona fide teacher. Lastly the teacher must wait for an SMS from TSC on their mobile for treatment to commence. But unfortunately this process of admission and treatment takes between six to seven hours pushing the critical teacher into a bad state as hospitals will not treat a teacher until they get confirmation from TSC via mobile of the teacher. Woe betide if the teacher forgot the phone. This has caused deaths of teachers in Kenya as they wait for treatment in hospitals while there is communication delay. Why don't  they issue teachers cards which hospitals can swipe to confirm teacher's details ? The AON scheme may be good on paper but practically teachers are suffering when they want to access health care. Some teachers who are seeking treatment like eyeglasses, surgery etc are being forced to use their own money to be treated. Some teachers up to now their names are not in the AON register and cannot access treatment. Let  those who were involved in the procurement of AON medical scheme, go back to the drawing board and correct these anomalies to save the lives of Kenyan teachers.
