IEBC needs qualified personnel

IEBC needs qualified personnel Before the October 26th elections there was a hue and cry from Kenyans who were urging IEBC to postpone the elections to a later date, but all this fell to deaf ears. My take is IEBC needs at least three lawyers on board. Some of the decisions made by  IEBC are wanting. This was necessitated when Mr Chebukati the chairman went to the supreme court to seek interpretation of the law.IEBC was given the  mandate of conducting free, fair, transparent and credible elections. The playing field has not been levelled. With these elections which have just been concluded, can the elections unify Kenya? If IEBC goes on to tell Kenyans to choose either to participate in voting during the elections. How can Kenyans be led by people they did not elect? In some parts of Kenya voting did not take place while others there was a boycott. In some polling stations, the highest votes were 100 per candidate or below. Are these credible elections? Votes should not be manipulated

Let IEBC accept assistance from Germany

Let IEBC accept assistance from Germany All elections which have been conducted before or after Kenya's elections have been concluded except Kenya's. And according to the recent opinion,IEBC is squarely to blame for this fiasco. Instead of bungling the next elections, let IEBC accept German's ambassador to Kenya's call to assist IEBC with technical assistance DN October 3. I qoute "Germany and other international partners will continue to support the independent Electoral and Boundaries commission in its work. A successful and peaceful poll will require goodwill and flexibility on the part of leaders and citizens" end of quote. What is the chairman of IEBC Mr chebukati waiting for? African Union has also express the desire to assist Kenya, as it has the standard and the might. Let Mr chebukati and his commission do a credible elections with the help of these international partners by calling a meeting and charting the way forward. Let him pick this low ha

Let Public service board in Counties consider all the 45 tribes

Let Public service board in  Counties consider all the  45 tribes It is a reality that public service boards are now advertising for vacancies for various categories in all 47 counties. But the sad reality is that those shortlisted for various county jobs are the locals or the indigenous people. Universities are graduating students every year apart from those who finished the universities years back and are still looking for jobs and if counties are employing people on the basis of being a local, this is a sad reality. How many people have settled in counties in which they are not the indigenous? Should their children look for jobs from where they were born years ago? When will counties employ experts from other tribes? Most of those shortlisted come from the advertising counties. This is tribalism of the highest order and devolution is now in its second phase. Some Governors are nationalists who have fought for Kenya' s freedom and the names proposed for interviews betrays the

Counselling should continue in the day to day life of a policeman

Counselling should continue in the day to day life of a policeman The work of a policeman is very daunting. When there is a riot, someone has committed suicide, the police are called. When a body is fished from a river or sea or knocked down by a vehicle, it is the police who are called, despite the sight. When vehicles have had a bad accident,it is the police who are called to give a report. Their task involve carrying dead bodies from the scene of the accidents regardless of their state. That compounded with their normal cases, the police handle in their stations or night duty also await them. Policemen and women have to be Supermen to handle those situations. Another report mentions that what affects the police lives is their love life. Most of them do not live with their spouses. Look at those serving in the far flung areas of Lamu,Pokot,Turkana,Wajir,Tana river,Nyahururu,Mandera and Somali etc. These duties affect them psychologically. That when the police were called upon recent

Homa bay County should stop open defecation

Homa bay County should stop open defecation At least three people in 10 people in homabay county do not use latrine. A study done some years ago revealed that lack of toilets contribute to lagging behind in development of a place. Access to safe human waste disposal methods is crucial for the health and wellbeing of a community. Lack of access to safe human waste disposal facilities leads to higher costs to the community through pollution of rivers, groundwater and higher incidence of air and water borne diseases. Other costs include reduced incomes as a result of disease and lower educational outcomes. According to the World Health Organisation, about 13 per cent of Kenyans do not have toilets, and go to the bush for long calls. Seventeen million Kenyans do not even have access to clean water, meaning they do not wash hands after going to the bush. This is very bad indeed.Years back in my home county l recall an open ground which was used by the community to defecate. But with the chan

Let Mombasa high court procure a metal scanner

Let Mombasa high court procure a metal scanner In life there are three places a person should visit, that is a prison/court,cemetery and hospital. These are places a person will know that freedom or health is precious. A visit to Mombasa high court reveals that there is manual search on visitors entering the court. This should not be especially in a place where justice is dispensed. Recently there was an attack on a judge and a person who had taken a case to court and that should have served as a warning to courts to be extra vigilant on people going inside the court premises. Let Mombasa high court install a metal scanner for easy search on people entering and also check what they are carrying. A Metal scanner sees everything quickly and easily and it saves time and at present in Mombasa high court, people have to line up for body and bag check which is time consuming. Some cases which come up in court have very many people going to hear them. Let funds be sourced for speedy implantati
