Stop massage parlours in the streets of Nairobi

Stop massage parlours in the streets of Nairobi It was a culture shock to see in the CBD of Nairobi message parlour operating openly. Just along river road opposite bus stations there are stands used by shoe shiners to shine shoes for clients. On the opposite of the shoe shine stand, other clients are seated and the are being massaged from feet to soles of the feet in the open. There is no running water. This was unbelievable and not ethical. Let Nairobi County and the new Governor ban such activities as they are not normal massages. The activities should be done in enclosed areas where there is running water. There are school going children who pass by or young people going to colleges or about their activities and seeing such activities, means painting a very bad picture in their minds.Let the shoe shine stands be used for cleaning shoes and repair only. WHERE ARE ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FUNDS ON THE GROUND?

WHERE ARE ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FUNDS ON THE GROUND? The Election Campaign Financing Act, which also sought to ban contributions by foreign governments, was passed in 2013 with a rider that it would take effect in 2017.A Presidential candidate is allowed to spend up to a maximum of KES 5.2 billion ($44.3m), while governors, senators and female representatives get a limit of KES 433 million ($3.69m). By comparison, the monthly minimum wage in Kenya is KES 15,201 ($131).These funds can pay salaries for employees for many months. Kenya has 47 counties, implying that successful senators will spend a total of 1.8 billion shillings (US$18 million) to win their seats. To successfully run for the Woman Representative seat, an aspirant needs US$240,000 this year 4.8% higher than the US$228,000 that a successful candidate spent five years ago. Kenya’s parliament has 47 such representatives, implying total spending in excess of US$11 million by the successful candidates. An MP will require an averag

It is not prudent to spend 10 million as allowances to monitor desks distributions to schools

It is not prudent to spend 10 million as allowances to monitor desks distributions to schools It was a shock that Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha admitted that his staff used 10 million in 2020 to pay daily subsistence allowance to staff from the headquarter to monitor the distribution of desks to schools. How much were the desks worth? School are grappling with low funding leading to principals to reduce food ration in schools. Some schools have done away with BOM staff as a result of low Funding. Many school children did not have school fee for the whole year and had to be assisted by well-wishers while 10m was spent on monitoring.Thia is kenya. This is unacceptable! There are education officials in all 47 Counties in Kenya. Therefore for the staff to come from headquarters to monitor the distribution of desks to schools is duplicating the tasks.Let those who engaged in monitoring the desks refund the money as they receive salaries every month.Auditor general has t

NTSA is asleep while buses are breaking rules

NTSA is asleep while buses are breaking rules I chanced to travel by a night bus from kakamega to Nairobi and l was baffled by what l observed. There are buses plying kakamega,Busia,Kisumu, migori, kitale and other major towns. These buses are breaking rules as well as endangering the lives of passengers. On one side of the front windscreen are destinations written in bold and coloured letters of various destinations. These letters hinder the driver from view on the left side of the windscreen.NTSA has seen and has not taken action against these buses. Can they take action now especially after the Nithi bridge accident.Let passengers lives be safeguarded regardless of the wishes of the owners of buses. Repair the pathetic roads in majengo kingorani

Repair the pathetic roads in majengo kingorani Mombasa County is a tourist destination and it should be kept as clean and roads maintained as possible. But a cursory glance on roads from kingorani towards mvita, the roads have very deep potholes which is dangerous to road users. After the roundabout towards the railway station that is the worst section.Drivers have to give space to each other to access the areas with murram in order to move ahead. Also from majengo market the situation is still bad.Where is KeNHA and Kura. Where is Kenya Roads board which is mandated in helping improve safety for public roadway users? They also bring roads to a maintainable standard with optimum use of local resources. Let the roads be repaired so that accidents are minimized. By Veronica onjoro Mombasa

Let us encourage skill acquisition by the youth to stem unemployment

Let us encourage skill acquisition by the youth to stem unemployment Kenya has over 6 million people who are unemployed, majority being the youth.ln order for the youth to be relevant in this 21th century, they should acquire skills which can make them employ themselves as jobs are scarce. Young graduates should join TVET institutions to gain practical experience to expand their employability.15,547 candidates who scored C+ and above in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination snubbed universities while some opted for diploma and certificate courses like ICT, plumbing, tailoring, chef, communications in technical institutions.Students are preferring to join TVETs, a sign that the government’s efforts to grow enrolment in the institutions is bearing fruit.According to President Ruto during his inauguration speech, said that the youth are termed criminals when they don't have jobs. The President promised to create jobs for the youth. By acquiring skills they c

LET IEBC EMPLOY PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY

LET IEBC EMPLOY PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY It is sad that we are again back to square one. This is because of fellow Kenyans who have less regards to intergrity. There are figures doing rounds in WhatsApp groups which show that the figures given are suspicious. These figures show that more people voted in particular stations than those registered to vote there. Why do people interfere with the smooth running of IEBC to bring back Kenya from where we came from? How do you move around in Bomas with documents and laptops instead of going to listen to results? The security forces also slept on their job. Some of the activities were screen shot from inside bomas. Were the security manning the gate only but not looking at CCTV to act on these misdeeds? When will IEBC get employees of integrity? Children are going back to schools and colleges, what do they learn from these elections malpractices? Kenya is a respected Country and the whole world was watching with bated breath for the smooth conclusion
